I've had the 900S for over a year. I kept going back to my Shure E5 for isolation especially flying and punchy bass. My E5 broke so I upgraded to SE535. Now I'm tending to prefer the 900S. I'm using FiiO 12A. Flat EQ with the 12A bass boost is ideal for the UE's.

My portable rig is iPod Classic 6.5 with LO to FiiO 12A with Shure 535's. Listening to Spotify via my iPad 4 straight to the Shures. Not bad. What DAC did the iPad 4 use?

I checked and my iPod Classic is latest 7th Generation.  I use FiiO line out cable to FiiO 12A Montblanc.  When charging the iPod and listening through the iPod amp it really doesn't sound to bad.  But the external amp kicks it up whole 'nother level.  

Comply confirmed P Series not available for UE

Problem is I rip my CD's lossless so large files. That's why I got the 160 GB iPod. Though I wish it had better DAC. Just got Westone tip fit kit. The black foam seem like good fit. Very comfortable!

My trusty old E5 cable has seen better days. Multiple cracks all the way through outer plastic shell. I assume it's from repeated winding/storing, temp changes and just old age. How can I get new cables for these gems? And should I consider crossover upgrades?

I've been using the iPhone cable since getting these last year.  I haven't been on the road for a few weeks but finally took the dedicated black cable with me.  It sounds so good!  Don't have the blue cable to try A/B'ing.  Is it possible there is an audible difference or is it the placebo effect?

Wow I did not know that iPod Classic did not provide true LO through 30 pin adapter.  I had gone back and forth with my C&C Box+ and could have sworn the "LO" sounded better.  Could be difference in quality of interconnect and or I had iPod volume less than max for comparison.   So what mod is...

  Do yourself a favor and get a true line out bypassing iPod amp section - connects to 30 pin side.  You will be thankful you did 

Much better isolation with large tips.  Also upgraded to Fiio E12A Amp which sounds more lush.
