Bose QC30 replacement cable - pin outs?

Just to update the thread. I bought a cheap (£1.68) 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable and it works perfect. It is a straight through connector, i.e. tip to tip, ring to ring and sleeve to sleeve.

Bose QC30 replacement cable - pin outs?

Thanks, Sorry they are QC35 my mistake. Yes they are bluetooth but they can also be cabled. She uses them cabled to watch tv if the neighbours are noisy. Unfortunately there is not a Bose store close by.  I did order a very cheap (99p) 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable which fits but for some stupid reason...

Bose QC30 replacement cable - pin outs?

My partner wanted noise cancelling headphones so she bought the Bose QC35 (corrected from QC30 Oops) as they seemed to cancel more frequencies than most. Anyway she has mislaid the cable as she doesn't use it very often. The cable is a 2.5mm stereo jack plug to a 3.5mm stereo jack plug. As I...

    Bluetooth transmitter recommendations?

Trying to find a bluetooth transmitter to go from tv to Bose QC35. There seem to be a huge number available so I am trying to find a reasonable one. As it's for tv low latency is fairly important and ideally that ability to stream simultaneously to 2 pairs of bluetooth headphones. It would also...

    Bose QC35 Wireless Noise-Cancelling Headphones

Picked some up today for the misses. She is very noise sensitive (neighbours playing music loud with window wide open). So thought the QC35 would be best bet to reduce her stress! I am no audiofile and have Sennheiser HD558, Grado SR60, Goldring NS1000 (NC), and my old trusty Sennheiser PX200...

Noise Isolation - on a budget - Please Help?

QC35 arrived :-)  Well collected from Currys, only ordered 17:43 yesterday and they arrived in store at 10am, with free instore or home delivery!   Overall impression is they are very good at noise cancelling and good sound quality. Noise Cancelling: In comparison to my old Goldring NS1000...

Noise Isolation - on a budget - Please Help?

Cheers for the reply. After reading lots of reviews we decided to get the bose QC35. From what I have read they would appear to offer the best noise cancellation (low and mids) of any headphones available.   We have been testing my old Goldring NS1000 and the missses is quite impressed. So we...

Noise Isolation - on a budget - Please Help?

My partner is very noise sensitive (long story) and we have neighbours that play loudish music during the day, council are dealing but it will take time to resolve. The music can be heard through closed double glazing!    So I am trying to find some headphones that will block as much noise as...

Cheap over ear noise isolating heaphones

Cheers for your reply. She has tried my Goldring NS1000 which are fairly isolating and likes them a lot, but I am concerned she wont be gentle with them :). She is fine with the ear heat for the length of time she can practice guitar, at moment only an hr or so due to sore fingers. IEM's she...

Cheap over ear noise isolating heaphones

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately she doesn't like IEM's at all. You are right that Closed headphones will make her ears hot and the clamping force is a double edged sword (needed for good sound isolation but, as you say, can be uncomfortable). My guess is that she will only use for 1 maybe 2...

Cheap over ear noise isolating heaphones

Help. My girlfriend has just bought a 'silent guitar' to practice in the lounge (using headphones) with while I watch TV. The problem is she has taken a liking to my old faithful Goldring NS1000. The problem is she isn't as careful with things and I don't want my ns1000 broken.   So I need to...

Laptop Line in (Guitar) signal to headphones?

This is probably a really silly question and not completely headphone related but I guessed you guys have lots of knowledge on headphones and pc sound?   My girlfriend has a VOXAMPlug Guitar headphone amp so she can play her electric guitar and not disturb anyone. It works fine as she plugs...

    Who got headphones?

Received HD558 and a Fiio E17. WOW I am impressed. They are my first decent headphones and they sound so much better than my old Goldring NS-1000. Difficult to describe how they are better but closest I can come up with is like the difference between SD tv and HD tv. Same picture but more...

Setting up surround sound system ?

Really sorry for this being not headphones related but after finding this forum, during my research for new headphones, and my subsequent testing and buying Sennheisser HD558s (Christmas present) I have started looking at my Cinema system. You chaps seem to be very knowledgeable and helpful so I...

    Spotify now FREE!!!

Just seen an announcement that as of 11Dec 2013 Spotify is now free on PC, iOs and Android. It does have ads and a few other premium features are not available to the free version but the quality settings seem to work.   I am assuming that this isn't just a UK thing?

DAC - Technically how can one be better than another?

Cheers for the reply. I have been reading lots of sites and pages and I think I can now understand why DACs can in theory sound different. I have no idea if they actually sound different as I have very limited experience in DACs. Looking at a brief technical overview I can see how the output...

DAC - Technically how can one be better than another?

A bit more: nonlinearity - in simple terms the difference between the actual analogue voltage output from the DAC to the corresponding voltage that should be outputted.

DAC - Technically how can one be better than another?

A bit more surfing and I think am getting an idea of differences. i.e. jitter caused by inconsistent clock signals and slew rate capability of the DAC.

DAC - Technically how can one be better than another?

I am not trying to start any arguments but if say a 24bit 96Khz DAC is converting digital data to analogue voltage how can DAC, with same bit rate and frequency, be any better than any another?   What I mean is that with a resolution of 24 bits and freq of 96Khz this equates to 16777216...

Fiio E17 for multiple input sources - optical - FreeSatHD & FreeviewHD?

Getting some HD558 for Christmas and wondering about a Fiio E17 to provide better dac and amp. I intend using the combo on my desktop pc, small netbook pc, and, in my cinema room for connecting to the optical out from FreeSatHD (Humax FoxSat HD), FreeviewHD(Smartbox 8320hd) , Bluray (cheapy one)...

VOX Guitar headphones - Any Good?

My girlfriend is teaching herself to play the electric guitar. She is using a small practice amp and has to use headphones plugged into the amp most of the time to keep the noise down :) She spotted the VOX Guitar Headphones that simply plug into the guitar and away you go. The Guitar side of...

Cheap USB DAC to fix broken laptop - Asus Xonar U3 or X-FI Go Pro?

Thanks for the suggestion. I have now found out that it's a bigger issue with my laptop than I thought! Somehow I can't install the drivers, it keeps saying that the drivers are corrupt, even though I download new ones directly from Dell. Spent way too many hours trying to fix this issue. For...
