So nice you bought it twice?

Needed new pads for Philips Fidelio x2 hd. Prime sale ….. £68.30 for a new headphone. So, now I have 2 of them!

    Rode NTH-100 - Mini Review

At first, I loved the cable because it’s soft rubber and very flexible.doesn’t get easily tangled. It is microphonic, so no dancing around while listening! To be honest, it’s not a problem for me because I don’t walk around with them on. I am going to get the shorter cable though, because I do...

    Rode NTH-100 - Mini Review

To be honest, I’m not certain that Solderdude’s graph shows exactly how the treble sounds on the head. Seeing this got me quickly switching between the two to compare directly what is going on….. First of all, the Senn hd650 is a better headphone so I’m not putting it down. The Rode seems a...

New Beyerdynamic Pro X line: DT 700 Pro X and DT 900 Pro X

Surprising that the price in UK isn’t as high as I expected; especially after Brexit so taxes are added.

Official M3 firmware download and discussion thread - FW1.9--new UI theme, various UI improvements

Strange that this wasn’t publicised more. I was completely unaware of it. The black really does help with visibility too.

Takstar Pro 82/GM200 Review, impressions and discussion thread

Could it perhaps be a ‘leak’ where the plug goes in? This happens with the Beyer DT250. Gives a slight imbalance between the two sides. When Solderdude reassembled, maybe he shifted something without realising.

    Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 Discussion Thread

Funny thing is that I have found it better than I first thought as well. I have tried numerous other headphones that are similar, but end up returning to the MSR7. Tried Senn Momentum on and over ear, Sony MSR1, Vmoda M100, Takstar Pro82 and for me, the MSR7 is an improvement.

Takstar Pro 82/GM200 Review, impressions and discussion thread

The driver might produce slightly more bass distortion at high volume which might be heard as extra warmth. That’s probably quite likely with the Takstar drivers. Try lower volume with bass boost perhaps?

Takstar Pro 82/GM200 Review, impressions and discussion thread

As I said earlier, it could be something like this .... Someone earlier asked what volume BenF was measuring at though and it makes no difference. I prefer around 3 or so dB higher than ‘flat’ in the bass too but that might be because I keep the volume down.

Takstar Pro 82/GM200 Review, impressions and discussion thread

Microphones hear no difference in volumes. FR remains constant. If you measure at 74 and then at or, the graph should be the same to something is wrong. The resulting graph graph is then altered with a compensation curve in order to mimic our hearing in the way that the graph looks...

Takstar Pro 82/GM200 Review, impressions and discussion thread

The way that it works is our hearing works differently to measurements. FR of the headphone remains constant at all volumes, but our hearing doesn’t. ; ) Funnily enough, I find the mids of the Pro 82 slightly lower than my AT MSR7 and in order to get a better feeling of ‘presence’ you may be...

Takstar Pro 82/GM200 Review, impressions and discussion thread

Loud always ‘sounds’ better because of the way our hearing works. The bass in particular drops away at lower volumes but raising the volume can also raise distortion and basically, it’s really not good for your hearing. I have ‘trained’ myself to listen at low volumes and have adjusted to it...

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

Well, it’s not as ‘strident’ in the top as many others. Funny with FR though ... the Sony mdr7560 sounds so thin up there and yet it doesn’t really extend much. I could play into a dt150 ‘thuggishly’ loud which has probably deafened me as well!

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

I used the DT150 for many years because it could be played at 'life' volume without pain, so making it great to perform into without feeling the need to hold back. The treble is rolled away significantly so it doesn't cause pain!! Choice is more based on what the headphone is being used for I...

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

Well, I haven’t seen people using them to actually ‘mix’ music myself, but they are used extensively to monitor what the end user might hear. (Along with others) Also, just because it’s used by ‘pros’ whatever you mean by that, doesn’t qualify it as a great headphone really. It’s just one of a...

Takstar Pro 82/GM200 Review, impressions and discussion thread

This is what Solderdude found when he directly compared the old and newer versions on DIY Audio Heaven. He preferred the newer version because of the differences in the treble.

Takstar Pro 82/GM200 Review, impressions and discussion thread

It’s very easy to get anxious because whatever you get or like, someone else might not like it and you go in ever decreasing circles. I’ve done magic circles for nearly 50 years and more often than not, I listen on a portable setup because it has more uses around the house. Good for sitting and...

Takstar Pro 82/GM200 Review, impressions and discussion thread

Exactly. It’s one of those subjects that causes chaos when discussed so I feel nervous even talking about it. ;) Only time I used it was while working as a musician where interference could be an issue. Most engineers thought me daft to even consider it for a home amp for the very same reason...

    Sony MDR-1A - Sony's latest update on the 1R

Do you find the Takstar bright? I find it quite sparkly by comparison and often use it out and about. You can also dial up more bass which does actually turn it a bit flabby in the bass but useful if you’re in a noisy place. I was surprised how good it is for the price. Didn’t expect much but...

    Sony MDR-1A - Sony's latest update on the 1R

Consider a Takstar Pro 82. Basically a clone type headphone, similar to the Sony, but no bass bloat on the two lower bass settings and sounds possibly better than the MDR1a.
