    Upgrade-itis... surpassing the k240s

The K701 sound nothing like the K240S. They have much less bass. The K240S were one of my favorites. Similar sounding headphones, but with MORE, include Grado HF-1 and Senn HD650. There are probably others, but those are the ones I've owned that I consider similar.

What the? Denon D2000 got the same sound signature as my cheapo philips

Move on and try something else. Too many people on these boards defend their favorite headphones and tell people that "you need 10000 hours of burn in" or "your amp sucks" or "your ears aren't good enough to appreciate perfection." I've personally owned over 30 headphones in the under $500...

Are Non-believers happy with their systems?

Interesting thread, with great comments. What I want to know is this: do non-believers seek for the flattest measuring headphones in their price range or do they let subjectivity take over in headphone choice. Do any non-believers use Grados? Quote: Originally Posted by Publius...

Help me find something like HF-1

I am looking for a headphone to use late at night to listen to rock music on my laptop. I am downsizing from a HD650/Tube Amp/DAC system that doesn't get enough use to justify the cost. At work, I have a Grado HF-1 which I enjoy a lot. I want something that sounds similar for my late night...

Headphones with the PX100's exact sound

AKG K240S is what you want. That's the closest sound to PX100 that I can think of. Some others that you would probably like are HD580, HD650, and HF-1.

Would I be dissapointed if I bought the Ety ER-6i's?

I've owned both. I personally like the bass better on er6i, as it seemed clearer and more extended, though not any stronger. The er6i actually lets you hear some highs, whereas the super.fi 3 is rolled off like most iems. I preferred the er6i to super.fi 3 and shure e4 for similar reasons...

where to find stock replacement tips for jvc marshmallow fx33 IEM's?

Don't know, but tips from other similar earphones will likely fit. I've tried the ones from my JBL 220s and the Shure E2's and they work. I actually like the E2 foam tips best on them.

    I thought I wanted HD580's - Now I need help!

As others have said, the HD600/HD580 are a little more comfortable than HD650 because of less clamping and a different headband pad. HD650 is my main headphone and one of my very favorites, and yet I also love the sound of Grado HF-1. It is the most laid-back of the Grados, and is the kind of...

    Entry Level IEM

Based on your requirements I would choose Er6i. I've owned Er6i, Shure E4c, and Super.Fi 3, and Er6i was by far my favorite. Let me be candid here. With these lower end IEM's you have to use EQ. None of these are going to sound like an HD650 or RS-1 out of an ipod. So with that in mind, it comes...

Cheap, open, comfortable, HUGE ear space

You can get a used Senn HD570 for that price. Nice open soundstage, large deep comfortable pads. Very good sound for $50, although they are not my favorite $50 headphones based on sound alone. I use them for tv/movies/games and they are super comfy.

I know it's a subject that's been around the block a few million times too many. However, I was curious as to the origins of the phrase "Sennheiser veil." I wanted to know which head-fier it was that coined the phrase, so to speak. All in good fun, of course. History leads us to the...

Short Comparison: JBL 220, JVC HA-FX55, Ety ER6i, Senn PX100

I did a short comparison of my portable headphones today, so I thought I would share the results. JVC HA-FX55 $15 Sound - Bassy and veiled.Freq - Strong Bass obscures midrange. Has some large valleys in midrange/upper midrange. Artificial sounding. Recessed midrange. Detail - Lacking in...
