iFi audio GO blu - Super small. Super light. Super Sound.

It's the delay in the controls. The 2-ish second delay when you press the play/pause button, or go to the next track, etc. It's not even worth trying to scrub through a track with AirPlay, it just doesn't work well. Essentially, for headphones, BT is the better setup for that since the delay...

iFi audio GO blu - Super small. Super light. Super Sound.

Profitability. Who would want a pair? A 2 second delay is quite annoying, plus all the R&D required to do it. It would be a very niche product for a very niche market.

iFi audio GO blu - Super small. Super light. Super Sound.

As far as dedicated DAC/amps, no, they don't exist. However, AirPlay speaker systems (which require a DAC/amp) do exist. So it definitely can be done; it's just a standard that needs to be met. This is not a cash grab thing by Apple, anyone is free to do it if they wish. There is a major...

iFi audio GO blu - Super small. Super light. Super Sound.

I'm surprised it's SBC and not AAC. Apple TV supports lossless through AirPlay 2 which utilizes WiFi (which allows for faster transfer speeds) and not BT.

    Philips Fidelio X3

You will receive the product as advertised. Woot is a one-day sale site owned and operated by Amazon. Though recently I've seen more multi-day sale items on their site too. A lot of the products sold actually will ship through Amazon's warehouses and networks.

    Philips Fidelio X3

That's a good question whether Philips considers Woot an authorized supplier. Woot is owned by Amazon, but I'm not sure whether Philips would consider them authorized. Question for Philips. Woot does advertise the 1 year manufacturer warranty on their page though (which they don't always do...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

Oh wow, yeah, mine came with the "latest" firmware. I don't know how often B&W releases firmware updates. The other thing I couldn't find was EQ which I'm more indifferent about, but I know a lot of people want it. I want to pull the trigger on the Beoplay EQ, but I can't for the life of me...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

My B&W PI7 got to me today. They do sound good, not quite my perfect cup of tea tonality-wise, but I wasn't expecting that. I got mostly what I was expecting to hear. A rather smooth sound with a slight emphasis on bass. I kind of hear a slight V-shape with the way the treble is pushed a...

    Philips Fidelio X3

Woot is legitimate. I'm not sure if it's actually a refurb or not since it still has a 1 year manufacturer warranty (I'd probably ask them if the warranty is true). If the warranty is true, I'd bet on it being open box. Also note that the price isn't too outlandish. I bought my pair new from...

iFi audio GO blu - Super small. Super light. Super Sound.

The hissing issues seem to be more related to specific IEMs. My Audeze Euclid for example don't really hiss. My Etymotic EVO do a little. My UE900 hisses a lot. Though I haven't had much time to play with the new firmware.

    AirPods Max

Didn't iFixIt say the only major issue with them was the sealing/rubber gasket used to get into the grill that sits below the pads? It's been a while since I looked at it, besides that issue, nothing else seemed to damning in terms of repair.

iFi audio GO blu - Super small. Super light. Super Sound.

I stopped using their clip case. The clip isn't super strong and has resulted in me dropping on the Go Blu a few times. I remember my brother finding it in my driveway once which was concerning. I went back to my Miter setup with a carabiner clip.

A custom EQ is not available on the iPhone unfortunately. You can try to hack something through headphone accommodations or use one of the built-in accommodations (one of which should be able to get you pretty close to the EQ you quoted.

    AirPods Max

I know someone had measured the different audio accommodations compared to the stock. If you wanted to make an EQ, you could use the difference between those as a guideline to start with. The measurements are newer, relatively speaking. I know someone had posted them in this thread, don't...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

I saw the B&W PI7 was 300 bucks so I decided to give them a try. B&W has always been hit or miss with me though. Some of their models being great while others not so much.

Etymotic Research EVO impressions and discussion thread

With respect to tonality, the SE/SR series is closer to my tastes. With the EVO, they bumped the bass but also eased up on the upper midrange. I likely would have been fine with one or the other, not both. The fit and form factor of the EVO is better than the other Etys though too.

    AirPods Max

I don't personally notice an odor on mine... Maybe if I put my nose up to it I might smell something. I do wear mine regularly, but not super heavy as they aren't the headphones I always reach for.

Etymotic Research EVO impressions and discussion thread

Don't tell Crin this :p I'm pretty sure he feels it's overpriced and has no reason for existing despite his review kind of telling you its reason for existing. The odd thing is that the tuning is a little too far from reference tuning for me in terms of my gripes with it. Not that I think...

It may not specifically be the material, it can also be the texture of the material as it rubs up against the skin. But either way, alternative pads may be an idea to try.

    AirPods Max

Oof, sorry to hear about this. It probably won't be great, but you can try some silicone coverings for the pads until Vesper can send something out, they tend to be really cheap and cropping up everywhere (drop-shipped from China). Here's an example of what I'm talking about...

    Sennheiser IE800 IEM's

Besides the ear pads, are any of the other parts available for purchase? I'd love a blue headband and matching ear pads for my space grey.

I would actually say the no EQ support is an APM fault (since the issue is the manufacturer of the APM not supporting it in any degree). I should probably clean my pads, luckily Apple sells spares, though they're on the pricier side at 70 bucks. I found the battery life average. Not the best...
