AGK K701 first impressions
OK just got my AKG K701 phones from TTVJ. Here is my first impression. Who has been messing with my bass and treble knobs? Is this what they call "polite" bass? What happened to the slam? I can hear things in the music that I never noticed before, but, so far I think that is because the...- dknightd

stereo phono plug in mono phono jack
I'd like to try connecting a radio shack spl meter to the soundcard on my computer. The computer soundcard has rca jacks. The spl meter has a mono phono jack. I have a stereo phono plug to rca adapter. Will that work if I just use one channel, or, will there be a problem using a stereo phono...- dknightd

Benchmark DAC1 screws loose
Just got my Benchmark DAC1 from Audio Advisor today. When I unpacked it I heard a rattling. I hoped maybe it was just the small package that contained BNC to RCA adapter and spare fuses. But no. The rattle was coming from inside the unit! D**m. I've been dying to hear this unit, so rather...- dknightd

Optical vs firewire
I currently use iTunes on an iMac to feed an m-audio firewire audiophile to make my music. I'll soon be replacing the iMac with a G5 tower. The G5 has optical audio output. The m-audio device wil accept both firewire or optical in. Do you think there would be any advantage to using optical...- dknightd

Stress Test
Stress Test I am not sure exactly how it works, but this is amazingly accurate. Read the full description before looking at the picture. The picture below has 2 almost identical dolphins in it. It was used in a case study on stress level at St. Mary's Hospital. Look at both dolphins...- dknightd

iPod FM transmitter
I taking the family on a vacation, we'll be using a rental car at the other end. Of course we'd like to take some tunes with us. Don't know what the rental car will have, but it is a pretty safe bet it will have an FM radio. So my thinking is we buy a FM transmitter for my daughters iPod and...- dknightd

iTunes remote
I find myself more and more using my 17" flatscreen iMac and iTunes as a music source. Both on headphones and speakers. Sounds pretty good using, for now, an M-audio audiophile firewire. What it lacks is the convenience of a remote control. Are there such devices? My needs are pretty simple -...- dknightd

Philips HP890 to Senn HD650
As a good head-fi'er I'm here to give you my impressions of my latest can upgrade. Some background might be useful. A couple of years ago I came to this site looking for information on upgrading from my very old Senn 430 cans. Based on what I'd auditioned locally, I knew I liked the Senn...- dknightd

how to spend my money
Hi, Newbie here. Looking for a decent headphone solution. These are for home use, mostly when the wife or kids don't want to hear my tunes. I listen to mostly reggae, rock, jazz, classical, bluegrass - roughly in that order. Basically I want something that works well for most music. My...- dknightd
