AKG K240 Sextett--Grado'd AKG?
Quote: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, I'm such a sad Panda right now :C A qick fix would be to adjust those plastic knobs on the sides (where you hooked your rubber) to fit your head and then fasten the botton knob again with the screwdriver. If done right, the knobs are touching and the...- roBernd

The Etymotics HF5 Thread
Hi, I own an HF-5 and I'm wondering whether my custom Etymotic-Tips made with the Custom program are able to fit other IEM like the Westone or Shure lineup. I've tried the search but it didn't yield results. Are there any guys among you with experience in using the custom tips on other IEMs...- roBernd

AKG K240 Sextett--Grado'd AKG?
I was wondering, why is this thread called Grado'd AKG"? The Sextett is not alike any Grado... the only AKG I'd called Grado'd is the K701 -> harsh upper mids/treble and lacking body (better extensions than most Grados though)- roBernd

Quote: signed... sad but true. The HD598 just has more treble, which is not always a good thing. plus, with some easy mods, the HD558's FR is almost identical to the newer HD600 with a bit more harmonic mess. (still better than most cans on the market)- roBernd

Why do headphones have different sound signatures?
Two reasons: -because it is hard to design and produce headphone drivers, plus compensate with dampening and chamber-size/material/vents -there are several target groups. 1.Piercing treble for the elderly (with budget) and... strange people (haters gonna hate) 2.Bass-Cannons for... the...- roBernd

wow, what is wrong with this measuring? this Grado (PS500) looks really enjoyable... which is rare for a Grado! mine: 1.modded Yamaha HP50 (Stereo-recabled, different dampening) 2.AKG K240 Sextetts 3.modded Fostex T50rp 4.modded Yamaha HP1 5.modded AKG K140 6+n several others any...- roBernd

AKG K240 Sextett--Grado'd AKG?
Despite the production variation in the Sextett Series, what is known is that AKG decreased the bass quantity with every new iteration of the Setett. TL;DR -EP, most bass -MP, a bit less bass -LP, the least quantity of all 3 The K240 Sextett is a musical phone, neither linear but not...- roBernd

AKG K240 Sextett--Grado'd AKG?
Quote: I'd go for some used K240s or K242HD -> ebay, forum, elsewhere, Anything else might be tougher to drive (as I don't know how you plan to amp them) But... depends on luck though, a Sextett (I prefer MP) can be (despite some ringing) quite magical.- roBernd

AKG K240 Sextett--Grado'd AKG?
Quote: compared to a Sextett (mid Production): K240s: -better bass extension, but more boomy as well, -sharper treble, but less upper mids K242HD -similar to the K240 in every aspect but -less boomy -less sharp treble (subjective) -most balanced of the 55ohm K240...- roBernd

and yet, despite the ringing, any Sextett itteration manages to be less harsh and overall more pleasing than any headhone based on the K/Q700 family.- roBernd

Why there aren't many headphones with W shaped sound signature?
boy, it sure reads like Murika-Day in here. If you applied a W to any headphone you owned...regardless of its regular FR seems bonkers to me. EQing differently, e.g. not flattening the FR, is like walking on your hands instead of your feet. I won't stop you if it's fun for you... but you'll...- roBernd

AKG K601 & K612 Pro Owners... UNITE!!
Quote: nope :P but as I totally loath the bigger AKGs (anything not in a K24X housing) I tried covering the whole front of the driver-grill with a less then 1mm thick felt... and now they don't shout as much as they used to. Oh, it was a K400, but the K700 and K600 families...- roBernd

Fidelio X1 vs Anything Less Than $300
the X1 is not a bad can, but makes them a no go is: no spare parts what so ever. Confirmed with their tech-support. If your pads are worn out... you'll really have to improvise. This said, they are more neutral then most cans around, and the bass bump is not massive at all.- roBernd

k142 has more bass. don't know which has better bass, they share the same drivers anyways. What I do know is: save a bit more bucks and get a k242 or k240s, if possible don't dive deeper into this hobby. any bucks you'll spend from here will only increment the sound a little.- roBernd
