ATH-A900x left ear cup slightly (maybe 2-3dB) louder than the right.
I'm gonna have to confirm this. I have a 2012-06 model and I believe there is an imbalance as described in this thread.- yeahman68

Audio-Technica ATH-A900X: Impressions, Reviews, Mods, etc.
Has anyone else perceived a slight channel imbalance on their A900X? When it comes to bass response, it sometimes seems to be stronger on the left ear cup or perhaps the left ear cup is slightly louder than the right ear cup.- yeahman68

Quote: I agree to a certain extent. It can be pretty bright/fatiguing at times, but it's only usually with songs that are already bright to begin with. Mine have around 100 hours.- yeahman68

Do you guys think the dacs found in ipod touches and toshiba laptops (perhaps laptops in general) should certainly be replaced with something like a schiit modi, fiio e17, etc. ? I feel like I am not getting about 65-75% capability from my A900X due to my sources.- yeahman68

Audio-Technica ATH-A900X: Impressions, Reviews, Mods, etc.
Initial ATH-A900X Impressions Introduction: Picked up the A900X yesterday. Here are my first impressions after about 5-7 hours of burn in. I have been listening through my 3rd Gen Ipod Touch and my Toshiba laptop. I've had the M50s for about 4 years. Picked up the A900X on ebay...- yeahman68

ATH-WS99 vs ATH-A900X Any feedback would be helpful because I'm in a bit of jam here. Seems like the WS99 has been getting praise left and right for its bass heavy signature with attention to midrange/treble detail/focus. It almost seems too good to be true. I know the A900X will not disappoint...- yeahman68

The WS99/WS77 PG 57..

The WS99/WS77 PG 57..
This has been a really great thread for me. I have been searching for a new pair of headphones for quite some time. I was looking to spend about $300 on a headphone. So far, the ATH-WS99 sounds like great headphone, especially for someone like myself who's coming from the ATH-M50. I have...- yeahman68

Closed All Arounder (AKG K550?)
I am in the same predicament. The A900X seems like the best choice for me at the moment, but the lack of bass presence seems like an issue I wouldn't be able to tolerate. After viewing this thread, the A900X is no longer the the shining candidate as the Kef M500, PSB M4U 1, and Mad Dog have...- yeahman68

Audio-Technica ATH-A900X: Impressions, Reviews, Mods, etc.
I appreciate all the feedback, everyone. How would you guys compare the A900X to the Sennheiser Momentums? Perhaps the only advantage the Momentums have on the A900X is the bass quantity (punch ,thump, etc.) Aside from this need, it seems like the A900X is really the headphone I'm looking for...- yeahman68

Audio-Technica ATH-A900X: Impressions, Reviews, Mods, etc.
After browing much of this thread, I'm about to pull the trigger on the a900x. My final question is whether or not these headphones absolutely necessitate an amplifier? I will mostly be using the headphones from my laptop and my 3rd gen ipod touch. I have been using the ath-m50's b/w 3-4...- yeahman68

ath-950ltd a worthwhile upgrade from ath-m50?

Easy-to-power, comfy, <=$150
In my experience, the grado sound wasn't for me, the bass just wouldn't cut it for me. The detail was good, but I missed the bass oomph. Be advised, the grado's are open so they'll leak a hell of a lot of sound. I was in the same shoes as you, and I'm currently trying the ath-m50. I like them...- yeahman68

Shure Srh-440 vs Ath-M50
So this is it, I've narrowed my choices. I'm listening to ath-m50, and the bass is good, the treble's alright, but the mids seem a little recessed....However, I've heard so much about the 440, and wanna know if it's gonna be worth trying those. By the way, I do like bass, the impact of the m50...- yeahman68

$110 and under: Denon ah-d1001 vs ath-m50 vs ath-es7
It's ironic that the "other" part of the poll isn't up with the m50 and the d1001. "Other" meaning the shure 440, that's gotta mean something....- yeahman68

Akgrate, thanks for your information. However, you didn't feel that the midrange in the m50's was slightly shadowed by the punchy lows or the crisp treble at all? I've been listening to rock, metal, etc. It somewhat seems like the midrange takes a back seat compared to the rest of the music....- yeahman68
