After incessant threads about which headphones to get, i took the dive on the alessandro ms1, and didn't like their sound and comfort. I guess the grado sound just isn't for me. I've narrowed it down to these. Just judge based on overall sound quality/comfort. Is there's anything else you wanna add, just post it.

I voted for the AH-D1001 because I paid around $100 for it from an authorized dealer. On the ATH-M50 I paid around $125 I think. They are both 5 star headphones if you ask me, with similar sounds. The ATH-M50 is just more portable, less luxurious, and more durable seeming. The ATH-ES7 also sounds great, but is seriously uncomfortable for me without the mod where you bend the thing out of shape.

Don't people say the 1001's sound good only if you recable them?

They sound great stock recabling just makes them sound a little better.

D1001s for sure due to light weight compared to the others, bass isnt overpowered like the Shure 440s, it can be had for 100$ on ebay. Folding, short cord, all around the best closed backs IMO for around 100 bucks.

2nd place goes to Shure 440
3rd m50

300hrs of break-in will sort out the weak mids. The m50s were quite boomy right out of the box.
