Sad news from Zuni Pueblo that Jeff Tsalabutie, one of the most talented artists of the carvers there, died this week following a road accident.
Jeff had a wonderfully lively and beautifully graceful carving style that was appreciated the world over. Along with Gibbs Othole, Dee Edaakie and other Zuni carvers too numerous to mention, Jeff has brought me a lot of personal and spiritual pleasure through his art.
I would guess Zuni fetish collecting and collectors are probably not too familiar to a lot of Head Fiers, but thought I'd post in case there are any of us here who share a love of American Indian art that have not heard this sad news.
My respects and condolences to his family, tribe and fellow carvers.
