Which has better overall sound quality? I am assuming the Zune HD but is the PSP's absolutely terrible or is it easy to tolerate?

No idea, but the PSP interface isn't great for media playback, at least compared to a dedicated player. I do have PSP1000, and the sound is fairly tolerable.

Say an ipod is a 10 on the quality of sound (which it isn't...) what would you rate the psp?

Which ipod? The touch 2g/3g are much better than my nano(s). I would rate the PSP1000 above the nano (and mini), but below the touch 2g/3g and zune hd.

I've only had a 5G ipod, and I'd rate the PSP below that. There's little bass/treble extension or soundstage.
