Wow... check out the comments under the article.
Still no shortage of Apple fanboys who are so threatened by the Zune that they relentlessly flame it.

Love the comment from nohone in response to the over-used and trite "what's a Zune?"

The best comeback they could muster was "get a life".
Funny.

I love my Zunes, all three of them, the white 30GB, the red 8GB and my tattooed red 80GB. I think their sound quality is great and their UI is excellent.

Mainly it's because of instant replacement upon battery discharge but I liked the specific looks of each one and felt it was worth it. Ultimately it's foolish spending which I'm suffering for.

The Zune "squircle" beats the pants off the clickwheel, IMO. Especially since Apple stopped sourcing them from Synaptics. The iPod Mini and iPod 4G had the best clickwheels. The new ones are rubbish.

Not according to this: AppleInsider | Briefly: Synaptics back in iPod, iPod touch guide confirms details

It could just be the heavier software making it less responsive. I haven't tried it but it looks clunky. meh.

I can only hope that Zune puts more pressure on Apple. Doesn't look like anyone else is doing it.

The OS slows the ipod down, not the click-wheel. Damn cover flow. I like the Zune interface myself THOUGH I find it easier to get around w/an ipod BEFORE the 6th gen.

B&H Photo are taking pre-orders. You should wait!

Tough call. One of the cool things about the Zune is that when they come out with new features and upgrades they make it work for the older models as well.
This obviously does not work for things like touch pads and other new hardware features.

I'd wait me'self. Still, the 80 isn't listed on B&H's website right now so ya' gotta' hold!!!

With the discontinuing of the 80 there will likely be constant sales like the ones for the 30 right before the 80 arrived. I'd wait til then. At the least prices on the 80 should be forced down a little.
