I have nothing but reviews to make a choice between them. Can someone tell me what makes the aeolus have better mids. I am thinking of buying the aeolus because of all the positive reviews. I listen to mainly R&B and hip hop.

Unless you also listen to metal/rock/alt/indie genres, the Atticus is probably the best choice for your stated genres.

Aeolus is more neutral compared to Atticus. I can't remember what the Atticus sounds like, but i prefer the Aeolus for its more neutral presentation. Atticus felt more boomy (and rightfully so, with a closed-back design).
If you want bigger, more impactful bass (out of the 2), Atticus. If you want slightly more lush and dare i say realistic mids for R&B, Aeolus is great.
If you just want bass, you might want to look at Eikon.
