ZMF Aeolus Impressions thread

Synergy is very important for most ZMF headphones. I found the Aeolus is the most forgiving with gear, but others like the Verite and Atticus and can really sound different on various setups.

Aside from burn in might be worth trying the suede universe perf pads too, those are pretty neutral too. We have them on the site now. The stock pads on aeolus are definitely the warmest. :)

I didn't know i swear! I thought it was a male name, sorry! :frowning2:

Haha- no worries! It is generally pretty safe to assume that someone is male in this hobby (something I want to change!) AND my name doesn't help.

I just got to my emails- so sorry for the delay on that!

....Unrelated, but it's one of those perfect rainy Sundays here in Chicagoland --- what a day for headphones. Hope everyone is having a good one and gets some relaxing listening time before the work week begins!

Not sure how much that will change your opinion.
I have seen that some folks reported enjoying the Verite directly connected to the Dave which has a similar low output impedance of 0.055 ohms. If the low output impedance of Chord products were a big deal, I believe that they are unlikely to enjoy the Verite with the Dave.

From experience, I prefer the Vérité with the Hugo2 serving as a DAC, playing through the WA5 (this May be a Captain Obvious response, but my 0.02 cents.

I have along time customer who's favorite amp for Verite is a Rupert Neve amp. I like the lower damping factor and a higher impedance personally, but that's the thing - it's all about finding that synergy for your own subjective preference. While I think that our line-up is vast enough at this point that there's a ZMF for most tastes - I do realize that the high impedance drivers in our headphones will make them sound different on different amps, which I love - but it might make it more of a challenge for someone hearing them for the first time with a limited amount of amps to try them on. Sorry for that!

Got some new Monoblock Pendant prototypes in that Bevin and I listened to today. They even got the Bevin stamp of approval, not easy! For anyone going to Axpona this weekend @BooUrns is talking on a panel about ZMF! Look her up!

The Hugo 2 is so great as a portable DAC - it's one thing I will never go to a show without!

$10,000+ buys a lot of confirmation bias.

Will there be a YouTube vid posted of this? I'd love to see it. No way I can go to the show.

the violectric v200 arrived this morning.
it is a great sounding amp... but.. the aeolus gives the best with otl, there is not much more to say..
i have to try something like an audeze, it will be probably a better match.
for those who are seeking for an affordable otl solution, feliks is the way. i can't imagine how good aeolus would sound with even better and more expensive solutions like mogwai etc.

My Aeolus finally arrived yesterday. I only had a quick listen yesterday evening and I really love what I'm hearing for now. Until Aeolus my go to headphones at home were my M1060 and Aeolus just got so much detail and sounds much more natural. And although they don't go as deep as a planar I enjoy the impact much more on the Aeolus. Also I've never heard anything that could produce kick-bass like Aeolus. Now they are burning in with pink noise at home and I can't wait to give them another listen tonight.

Many thanks btw to @zach915m and @BooUrns for your great support and feedback during the order process.
