This DAC seems to have fallen off the end of the earth. Why?
Could it be the lack of a headphone out? The new interface that
uses a dedicated pc card instead of USB? Poor sound?

From what I've read from this board and elsewhere, the D2.5 is a better buy for users who don't care for D3's support of the niche TG-Link interface. The deletion of the HP out is the 2nd strike. For me, the omission of a USB interface is the 3rd strike and out it went. I would've bought one had it supported USB instead of TG-Link.

TG-Link is ways better than USB.

Use a D3 with the sndscape sound card via TG-Link and you'll change your mind.
