hey guys, so im going to get a dt990/600 soon and im currently also going to be look for my first amp/dac to run them properly.

ive got them down to 2 of them. the zero dac and musiland 02 monitor. i wanted to get ur guys's feedback on which one of these would be the best for them. ive heard that beyers do really well with tube amps. im not too sure how many tube amps are within that price range. the LDMKII is about $180 after shipping so thats kind of a push. im also open to other suggestions too! please let me know what u guys think. my price range is ~$150. If i could get some pros and cons of them too then thatd be great.

Thanks!

Save up another fifty and spring for the Maverick, trust me, it's nice :]

Well, if those are the only two choices I'd go with the Musiland because of the ZERO's reported reliability issues.

my friend also told me about that too, how zero dac has bad build quality or something. so far its 3-0 musiland 02. so im leaning towards that as of now, but definitely open to some more things!

An owner of both the Zero and STX reported that the STX was a significant step up from the Zero. Recently, the Musiland 02 was compared to the STX and was found to be better than the STX by a few different people.

I would wager the 02 is the better choice for the DAC, by logic alone. I don't know if the 02 has a good amp section. It's mainly known as a good DAC.

hmm aight thanks. i heard as well that the musiland was better than the stx as well. but i never heard about the stx being better than the zero. but then again i never looked into that. i heard it has a semi good/decent amp. ill prolly end up just getting the musiland 02. can it power the 600 ohm version tho pretty well?

Even less actually . Here is specs:

•Analog output
Dynamic range (D/A):113dB
SNR (D/A):113dB
THD(D/A):0.005%
Frequency response (20Hz~20KHz):+-0.1dB
Output level:2V rms
Output impedance:10KΩ
Earphone interface 1 RMS:140mW/RL=120Ω;100mW/RL=32Ω
Earphone interface 2 RMS:50mW/RL=100Ω

ugh....u serious? dang it, well i guess the musiland is out of the question now. well hold up, let me see.

which amp or dac would i need to properly drive these 600 ohm version dt990? just shout out some amps/dac's and ill judge if they are generally too much money or not for me.

would the musiland be able to drive the 250 ohm version pretty well then?

thanks all!

also, what about the fireye 2?

it says....

Headphone Impedance: 32 - 600 Ohms.

since it says 32-600, that means it should be able to power the 600ohm dt990's, no? but how good will this really perform? im kinda skeptical cuz its only $97.

i thought about the cute beyond/curve but they're kinda a stretch.

how come i also cant find the impedance levels for the ibasso d2+ boa? im considering one of those too!

If you are buying 600ohm cans, you need a desktop amp. Will you get sound from the two you listed, yes. Will they drive them properly, no. I have Beyers 250ohm (DT770 & DT880) and would not consider either for the task.

Sorry for the straight-forward answer, but you have invested good $$$ in those cans. You have to feed them well...
