) . The Creative website has two firmware upgrades, 1.01.03 and 2.00.12. When I get my Micro, which one should I upgade to? What are advantages/disadvantages of each? Also, should I upgrade before or after I copy my music to my Micro?

Thanx

What's so bad about the 2.x versions? I love it

MTP rules

MUCH easier to organize stuff with the MTP explorer than the older one.

Maybe you have WinAmp or some other software running which accesses the Zen. If all else fails, reboot the PC and retry.

As a PlaysForSure/MTP-enabled device, your Zen Micro will be recognized on Microsoft® Windows® XP systems, without having to install drivers or software. Windows Media® Player 10 will be the primary application for content management between your Zen Micro and your computer. "

I'm sticking with the latest 1.xx for now as well. Since I don't use WMP, I see no reason to switch.

had the same problem with an easy answer luckily enough (never happens with computers) just log off and log back on again and it'll work

I highly recommend the v2.x firmware for the MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) update.

MTP is not just for WMP. It provides a generic interface to any player that supports it so you can drag files back and forth in explorer, just like on any random USB Flashdrive. No matter what the internal storage structure of the device, all of them would look the same in Explorer.

Any Windows XP system will recognize and support the Zen Micro automatically with v2.x firmware! You can drag music to and from it with no extra software, or use WMP if you prefer.

One caveat: MTP imposes restrictions. You can't mess with the dir structure or just move anything anywhere. You also can't just copy any random file. It checks the file type.

Oh by the way, perhaps as a prelude to the Zen Micro Photo, MTP lets me drag JPEGs to my Zen Micro along with music.
