The 1.10.02 firmware upgrade was pulled from the Creative Support site after most folks who upgraded last week complained that their units were discharging in sleep mode when headphones were left plugged into the unit.

There is a lengthy thread that covers the issue at

http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ssage.id=61244

Creative is currently looking into the issue, and has reposted the 1.02.05 firmware version until they sort things out.

I've been following that thread and find it a little bit odd that my player doesn't discharge, even if I leave it alone for 24 hours. Might need to test it more.

OK, I take that back. Started yesterday I noticed massive drains after it had been in sleep mode.

after several bad experiances with creative's firmware, i now refuse to upgrade my firmware on my micro. i'm still sticking with the original 1.01.03, which works fine and does all that i need it to (except for working as a ums device, not sure if that can be fixed by firmware). i'll only upgrade the firmware if i see something that i really like and if it's been out for a while with little or no negative reviews of it.

I'm back on the 1.02.05 firmware, it works great. I highly recommend everyone upgrades to it.

Regarding firmwares, is it possible to have an update that enables decoding of foreign music formats? LIke can the player, with upgraded firmware, start playing .flac or .ogg?

Not sure as it depends highly on Creatives internal hardware and whether it can support it. Adding a feature like that wouldnt be easy either

Yes, its safe. I downgraded to 1.02.05 (which is available at www.nomadword.com) and everything was fine. But it does take a while (2-3mins), so dont panic
