I have a quick question, I would like to know if I will notice and boost in music sound quality jumping from onboard to a discrete sound card. Since, I see people saying that sound card is only good for 5.1, considering my speaker is 2.1. I have the X-540 5.1 as well, which will I get better sound quality if I do get a sound card?

If I do jump I have 2 choices:

Asus Xonar DG for $35

OR

Auzentech X-fi Bravura for $40

any inputs would be great, thanks

Honestly I don't think you will, unless your onboard is noisy or doesn't have a line out (and you are using the headphone out). I don't think you'll need to upgrade the sound card until you upgrade your speakers.

Auzentech X-Fi Bravura 7.1 for only $40?
I'm going to guess (?) it's a better card then the Xonar DG.

Yeah, it's on sale, so by price I would assume it's better then the Xonar DG, but was hoping for some inputs

Appears to have a better built in headphone amplifier. and replaceable op-amps.
