I built a VU meter with LED's.
It has a scale from -23db to +5db.
At least if your going to wreck your eardrums then........
See all of the destruction in glorious blue led's!

You may want to look into the Velleman Stereo VU meter kit. They have the standard 10 led type and the more defined 15 led type.
