I haven't replied to this thread earlier, because I thought that it would be too difficult to pick only ten albums from my collection of nearly 2000 albums, but today I decided to give it a go. The result is naturally a huge compromise and far from the truth, but I don't think I could ever name just ten albums and be happy with the list. I decided not to take soundtracks into consideration and to name as few classical and jazz albums as I could, because both could easily fill the entire list. In the end I still ended up with perhaps one more classical album than I had hoped, but I just couldn't leave Arvo Pärt unmentioned. I also noticed that for some reason I tended to prefer the more accessible albums when I was trimming the list down to ten names. The end result is a mixture of very well know albums and some personal favorites.

Arvo Pärt - Tabula Rasa
Boris - Boris at Last -Feedbacker-
Freezepop - Future Future Future Perfect
Keith Jarrett - The Köln Concert
Mike Oldfield - Music of the Spheres
Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left
Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon
Radiohead - In Rainbows
Steve Reich - Music for 18 Musicians
Sufjan Stevens - Illinois

Glad to see someone else loves this one too.  Seems like almost everyone, critics and fans alike, consider it the 3rd best Interpol album.  I love "Antics" and "TOTBL" too, but "Our Love To Admire" is my favorite.

Yeah. To be honest I was tempted to list the self-titled, which seems to get very little love

, as lately I'm really into about the first half or three fourths of this album. I actually think it's a little unfair to call any one of their albums the greatest because they keep evolving over time, but  I think OLTA was the most consistently good.

This thread has been bugging me ever since I discovered head-fi and now at twenty one years of age, I've become ever-more certain that there's still too much music I'd like to get my hands and ears on. My tastes are still maturing and preferences ever changing but what I, as a novice listener have ascertained, is that, great music never loses its impact.

So when I do catalog some sort of a preliminary list, I hope I'll remember to post it here.
