Gotta be Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska.  The raw emotion and bleakness of the album just makes me feel like everything's gonna be OK.

Scar Tissue & Otherside - Red Hot Chili Peppers: The lyrics allow me to stay introspective, while the tonality of the lighter guitar sound tends to slowly bring me up

Broken & Careless Wisper - Seether: When I need to think and work things out, usually progressing to Remedy, Fake It, and Rise Above This to bring me back up in the end

DJ Tiesto when I need to push it all aside and ignore it

Evanescence - Amy Lee's voice is just amazing, but the lyrics trend towards more introspection

DJ Shadow's "Blood On The Motorway" from the album "The Private Press" is one track I can seriously recommend.

When I'm sad, I need upbeat music, good time rock'n roll.  Someone like Dave Edmunds and the like....

When I'm extremely upset for a day or so I don't listen much, but if I do it's usually some Anglagard.

If I'm down for a while (every damn February) I tend to lean into metal and prog metal (Mastodon, OSI and such)
