I find that not all gear brings out the intensity of heavy metal music for my 2-channel system, so I'd imagine the same is true for headphones. What do you prefer to use when listening to heavy metal/hard rock: Tool, Sabbath, Motorhead, Ohsees, etc...?

V-Moda CFW1 or M100. My choice with a slight eq adjustment. Nothing kicks harder.

I've never even heard of that brand before. Thanks!

I'm not an adherent to genre specific headphones but I have similar tastes. From the ones I own:
Sennheiser HD580 Jubilee (1995). Quite analytical and a little bright, shows up some older recordings.
Sennheiser HD580 (Early flat plate 1993). More forgiving, slightly warmer, still very accurate.
Sennheiser HD600. More polish, more forgiving of older recordings, accurate
Sennheiser HD650. Slightly more bass and slightly less bright, very forgiving, warmer, beautiful sound config.
Beyerdynamic DT880 Edition (600Ω). Analytical and very bright which tends to limit volume levels.
Midrange is super on all these which is good for many music types. I found the HD600 a little fatiguing sometimes. I don't have a favourite for rock/metal I just jump from one headphone to another. It depends how much accuracy you want or whether you prefer something else.

LCD4z is quite a decent performer in that area :)

I recommend the Austrian Audio Hi-X65 with equalizer. They also work wonders with cardboard acoustic drums from the 70s - 80s.
