Shostakovich.
Symphony #5 introduced me to much of what I listen to now.

I'm big on Chopin, Dvorak and Vivaldi and Beethoven.

But my all time favorite is Bach probably because of Glenn Gould's The Goldberg Variations

by any chance have you heard anner bylsma's performances of his cello suites? especially the second one... gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous.

lately, i've had a thing for charles ives.

I may have sampled them on Amazon at some time. My favorite rendition of the Cello Suites, and I have heard many, was done by Lillian Fuchs, a violist many decades ago. They have been reissued on CD not too long ago -

Pablo Casals after hearing Fuchs play Suite Six, said that it sounded better on the viola then the cello.
