I hear a strange crackling in so many songs now.

From Linkin Park to Dubstep, I hear strange crackling noises. Is this just a result of bad mastering?

Linkin Park: This is only in the intro. For the Catalyst, it starts at 1:30.

Dubstep: The first one is live, I can hear a crackling noise in every high pitched sound he makes.

I'm starting to get worried that my headphones are broken. Anybody take a listen to these with their M50's?

(BTW, i'm not an audiophile, i'm a noob).

Also, keep in mind that these are not all the songs.

Im almost sure its a result of bad mastering. Also, youtube compression. You should really try to use 320kbps mp3 or lossless of some kind, it might clear up those cracklings right up. Compression hurts, lossless can help. ^^

Although, I do use my Ipod, and for the catalyst, I hear a lot of crackling.

But it's kinda sad to see that my favorite songs are almost impossible listening to.

Desktop -> iBasso D4 -> ATH-ES10

Listened to all on the highest quality possible

1) it looks like the distortion is intentional in the matsering

2) nothing wrong here

3) nothing wrong here

4) nothing wrong here

I do have different headphones from you, that are higher end, but they are reportedly similar. Hopefully someone with M50s can give a more definitive answer.

Maybe you need an RMA?

Bad mastering. Every headphone I've used, different files, different sources, all get some crackling from LP's Thousand Suns album.

Wretches and Kings has some pretty bad crackling at around 1:11 or so when he says "When you save face, how low can you go" and the bass drops.

I get crackling sounds on all of my Cunninglynguists collection (except Oneirology), doesn't matter if it's through my M50s or my Sennheisers. It definitely sucks. If I want to listen to those songs without getting pissed off by the noise I have to listen them through my car or through my home theater.

I feel you. There are songs that I used to love that I simply cannot listen to anymore on any of my headphones.
