Im new into head-fi, and im looking for an amp in that price range. What is the difference between them and who would you suggest is the best buy?
I found this Yaqin on ebay

Where are you located?

Just one remark:
Guarantee claims? Schiit offers a generous warranty and fast shipping service. Sending in this monster 17 Kilo amp to China will cost you quite a lot.

I have not heard the Yaqin so can't comment on the quality, it surely looks great. But I would always go for the Schiit's (and I did, twice).

Valhalla or Asgard 2 really depends on which headphones you want to drive with them. Also the output impedance should be low for lower impedance headphones. The yaquin has 32 Ohms, Valhalla 30 Ohms and Agard 2 has 2 Ohms.

So if you have 32 Ohms headphones the Asgard is best, for 600 Ohms it would be the Yaqin and Valhalla (purely from that technical spec).

Both the Valhalla and Asgard are just recently updated and are hands down amazing amps for the money. I have the previous versions and love them. Listen to them daily.

Thank you!
Im in Norway.

I can get a used Asgaard 2 for 250 usd. Here they are about 400 usd retail. And it wont be less expensive to import it from US cause import tax, shipping etc
Im considering Sennheiser HD 598. But im Reading about what fits the amp now and try to figure out what to get.

I have a Yaqin tube amp, playing With Klipsch. Sounds great and im very happy With it. But it needs tube change. So i Guess Shiit is more newbie friendly.

Hi!

hmmm, the Asgard and the HD598 are a perfect pair. Schiit themselves says so. However, if you already have a nice tube amp and you like the sound. Then why change? I know that 32 Ohm output are not really good for a 50 Ohm headphone but .... I used my HD 598 on my Valhalla and it was quite ok, not as brilliant as with the Asgard but the difference was tiny.

An Asgard is definitively more user friendly and it sucks that you have to pay such a high price in retail for a new Asgard. But on the other hand used is like new, there is nothing that "uses"  an Asgard, so you have the benefit of having a burned in amp, right away.

Which Klipsch are you using? It might not be the perfect match for your amp either as they are usually made for low impedance sources/amps.

Anyhow, Asgard and HD598 is a combo that is made in headphone heaven to my ears.

I have both Klipsch RF-62 and 82, im listening to the RF-82 now actually. I was told that the amp was not strong enough for the 82s, when i bought it. The thing is, I mostly listen to classical solo instruments. (violin, piano, classical guitar etc). Im a conservatory educated classical guitarist. And I listen to music I actually play myself and have played during concerts etc. So I want the most realistic sound as possible, every detail.  Im very impressed with the klipsch for that purpose. fantastic midrange. And the instruments I listen to for example, classical guitar, has 5 octaves. A modern pop song with electric instruments has a lot bigger tonerange to cover. So maybe thats the reason. Its not nice, when the volum goes up on a rock song on the 82s, the top range is "screamy". So I prefer 82 for classical and 62 for rock etc  :D

If I want more "Hi-fi" sound now I need to upgrade my speakers, and most def my electronics.  I need DAC, Power amp, better amp etc. I just feel the way to hi end is closer in head-fi. And I basically just want to try to see if its something for me. Anyway i cant get enough amps it seems, allways looking :)

Sorry man, you are comparing speakers with headphone. Can't help you with that.

What I can tell you is that guitars sound amazing with the HD598. But you will be a better judge if they sound natural. I love to listen to music but am terribly bad at producing it, no matter with which body part (hands, feet, mouth, fingers) it's just not my talent but I really appreciate people who can play instruments well.

Cheers,
K
