I am new babe here looking for some suggestions about my setup.

Here is the stuff I currently used.

Chaintech AV710 (recently installed) or SB Live 24 bit
Toshiba 3960
NAD 3020 Amplifier
Whardedale Diamond 8.1 bookshelf speaker or HD280/E2C
Dayton subwoofer

Right now I am using the stereo to RCA line connect my AV710 to NAD amp. I would like to use the optical out in AV710 as an upgrade. Probably I will add more speakers to setup a surrounding sound in the future. That's why I am considering to add a digital reciever.

I heard that Yamaha DP-U50 is good external sound card has digital input. I will be very grateful if I can get some suggestions on it. Whether it is suitable to buy DP-U50 or directly go to digital reciever and connect two speaker and sub first then graduly add more speakers.

I spend most of time on some classical music and instrument, some time on DVD movies and game.

My estimate cost is less than 200$ (Still a college student :) )

Thank you very much for your help and any suggestions.

The DP-U50 only has passive preouts. I don't know a whole lot about setting up speakers, but I'd say you're better off going straight for an XR25 or whatever. Although the DP-U50 is wonderful for an input selector and invaluable for my two computers, it might be better for you to save some money and get a receiver/integrated amp/et al.
