As the title speaks, how will this older-version amplifier handle the HD 800?

The amp does sound pretty good with my high-quality speakers, but can it give justice to the HD 800, or do i have to buy a new amp for that purpose?

I don´t think that many stereo amplifier has a headphone out good enough to drive even lesser phones. I have no experience, but most likely you need a new amp.

A headphone amp. Stereo amps are designed to drive speakers, not headphones.

Stereo amplifiers can drive headphones, given they have a headphone out just fine. These things usually have ample of power but how it sounds to you compared to a dedicated headphone amplifier is a different question.
