I have never heard the SR-71, but the gilmore v1 I have is especially good with the DT880. The lite and the v1 were very close in sound quality when I auditioned the lite. Unfortunately, I didnt use the DT880 when I had the borrowed gilmore lite. Still I would expect the lite to have similar synergy. For the price of the XP-7 there is the new gilmore GS-1 to consider too. The GS-1 has some extra features like.... two inputs, a loop out and a preamp output. The amp also has a two position gain switch on the front panel. The amps build quality and and appearance are first rate.
