Hey yall,

I'm somewhat new to the audiophile headphone thing. Anyways, I was have an asus xonar stx sound card right now that I use to power my HD555's. I was wondering if it would be worth the money to buy a pair of HD650's and a Little Dot MKIV amp to use instead of my sound card's amp. Yes, no?

I would say "yes"

The Little Dot is a nice companion to the HD650's and you'll get to hear a lot more of what they do well.  One caveat, the amplifier in the Asus STX board produces a fairly bright sound IMHO, while the Little Dot is a lot richer and more mellow.  But the HD650's also tend to be a bit dark sounding, so you might find the Little Dot too laid back.  For the kind of music I like (which tends to female vocalists, & chamber music), the Little Dot is sublime.  But depending on your musical tastes, you might find the presentation less exciting, even tho the sound quality will be substantially improved.  You do, however, get a LOT better quality bass with the Little Dot.

Hope this helps!
