Hi,

This is going to sound pretty silly but I have an STX question. I've had the Xonar Essence STX for about 5 months and I absolutely love it! I mostly use the analog speaker and headphone out. Is it there a way to cover the SPDIF or stop it from emitting light out the back? I don't have the settings set to SPDIF out so I'm not sure why it's transmitting light from the back. Is it damaging to the card for the port to be active without anything connected to it?

I was wondering that for my sound card too. I was thinking a rubber tire valve cover.

I managed to find a toslink cover from one of my older A/V receivers, so I guess I'll just use that for now. I hope I didn't damage my card in any way when I decide to hook up a dedicated DAC later.

This is normal operation for any Fiber Optic output.
There will be no damage.
Enjoy your STX
