I'm building a new pc and I would want to know if there is that big of a difference between the Xonar Essence DX & STX. I'm kind of on a budget and I can get the cards for;
DX: 69€
STX: 179€
I'm mostly using M-Audio A40 speakers and sometimes a Sennheiser 555HD.
Is the SQ difference between the DX and the STX worth the €?
I'm also not planning on buying a new headphone so adaptability for new stuff isn't important.

Let me maybe rephrase this a little..
Is the price difference (2,5x as expensive) between the DX and the STX justifiable for someome on a budget who only uses M-Audio A40 speakers and sometimes a Sennheiser HD 555.
Is the DX a good card? I don't find many reviews about it at all.

well... being a stereophile is all about sensitivity to the details
If you're picky enough to the details, how black is the background, how precise is the detail, how accurate is the sound direction... then definitely take the Xonar STX

To me, the updrade is well worth it. :)

Ok.
But are the M-Audio A40's high quality enough to notice the difference? Like I said, future proof is not an issue, I'm not planning on upgrading.

 darn post didn't take again hmmmm
