Hi all,

I'm going to build my Senn cable and terminate it by Neutrik XLR 4-pin. However, this is the first time I use the XLR connectors so still have problem distinguish which is L,R and G. I don't have a multimeter here (maybe arrive tomorrow) so it's very difficult for me to build.

I got a picture on google:

and on the male XLR 4-pin there are numbers like this:

2963929659_e5bc5bfea9_b_d.jpg

I wonder if I solder as the picture on google, is it correct?

And please help me identify which pin on the XLR 3-pin to solder?
Is it the same pin on female and male connectors?

Thanks a lot.

If you're using the K1000 4-pin XLR standard configuration it goes like this:

1 = L+
2 = L-
3 = R+
4 = R-

And yes, the first image that you linked to appears to show this correctly, the big pins on the senn connectors are the '-' or ground connection (bal vs. se).

For the 3-pin XLR

pin #2 = +
pin #3 = -
pin #1 is not used for headphone cables

Now, go write that down somewhere so you don't have to ask again later.

Seriously, I keep stuff like this in a notebook at my workbench. I just happened to have it with me today and referred to it for this thread.

Nice work!
As you say in a different thread, its not an expensive cable. But none the less it looks nice...
