The lid on my SuperMicro III cracked awhile back, and I ordered a replacement case from Xin. He sent me a SuperMicro IV case.
The case is the same size, and has the same ports. However, the lid is more snug than on the version III, and it comes with a little elastic band to help hold it in place. It is also engraved "Xin SuperMirco-IV", and has the "in" and "out" jacks engraved as well.
Bottom Line: The case is still something you need to be careful with, but it does look nicer and is much less likely to come apart on you
Too bad I'm ethical; I could sell it to a newb as a SuperMicro IV when my real SuperMicro IV arrives
Just so I don't get a million p.m.'s:
I already have a willing buyer from HeadFi for the SMicro III, assuming my SMicro IV ever arrives and I can bare to part with the old one.
I'll definitely do some A/B testing before selling, if I do, and post the results.
