1.2V eneloops are fine for the Xin SuperM line of amps since they boost the voltage to 5.5v anyway.

But what about the Reference? Does that boost too? Or would 1.5V batteries be better than the 1.2V when running higher impedance headphones?

Thanks

The batteries are around 1.4 when charged and drop to 1.29 when they are about used up for that charge. The Eneloop sound better to me than any other battery regardless of the voltage, as in lithium, which are around 1.6 volts.
