XD05 pro drives electrostatic headphones via ifi iESL. External power supply by ifi iPower. XD05 pro set to Turbo at 90 volume level. ifi iESL set to 96 Ohms.

Any distortion at that volume level and where did you get that red/orange mat?

No obvious distortion to my ears. Comparing to other amps that i used for electrostatic headphones, 90 at Turbo produces a sound level similar to a Hifiman ES amp at 11 o'clock or an AHB2 at low gain. Any difference among them is subtle to me. The mat is just a silicone kitchen mat from Amazon. The wave pattern helps support the unit as well as provide some ventilation at bottom. But the XD05 Pro doesn't really generate that much heat, at least much better than the Hifiman amp, which becomes a space heater when in use.

Hi, is it worth to buy AKM module? Is it better than ESS?
In my opinion, one can answer classically "it depends".

First of all it depends on your taste, the AKM is slightly warmer and more natural (slightly), the ESS is really good and against the AKM it is more detailed, the stage is wider and deeper the holography is audibly better.

*For my part, having both ESS, AKM and ROHM, I confidently recommend owning AKM and ESS, it's nice to switch chips from time to time and enjoy a different sound. The only thing I don't recommend is ROHM it sounds like a weaker version of ESS.

it depends
Rohm may not be as showy as ESS but as if it illustrates the sound scene and vocals differently. The advantage (although it is a pity that it has only 2 FIR1, FIR2) is a clear difference between these filters where in ESS and AKM (for me) they are almost inaudible.

Very nice synergy with Focal Elegia, hypnotizing female vocals and very wide scene! 🎧🎤

Perfectly match Elegia with XD05PRO 6.3 mm cable NORMAL gain 👍👍👍 it has better synergy with XD05PRO than my Focal Clear. Also tried with Radiance and Stellia. Elegia pairs the best with XD05PRO 👍

Today I finally tested 12V Linear Power Supply 😊 Sound quality increased instantly in my opinion compared to my regular 12V DC power supply and compared to "ifi power X", which I've tested earlier. I can say now that everything became sounding even more natural, with more noticeable details, better separation and imaging, and absolutely clean background. Feels like every note in sound became more clear and noticeable. Reccomend it to everyone!

P.S.: Make sure to plug power cable to wall socket correctly, use AC power cord line (L) detector to connect power cable to linear power supply correctly.
