xDSD Gryphon: birth of a ‘head-fi’ legend

I'm using the Creative BT-W5 dongle... Again I am getting 96Khz on other devices, just not the Gryphon. I suspect it may be a limitation of the Qualcomm chip (or firmware). Can you verify the actual BT chip used in the Gryphon?
I will try for you, folks are out of the office in HQ, but I certainly will ask for clarification.

Cheers!!

Diablo is a little bit better, but do realize, can be to powerfull for many IEm’s. For the money the gryphon is very good. But would give you the advise listen to the mojo2 as well (it sound significant better).

I owned the gryphon xdsd, but would I do it again I would go for the mojo2. Right now I went for a astell and kern player.
I tried to like Mojo2 and demoed it twice, each time 14 days but it sounds dull and unengaging compared to Gryphon.
Mojo2's DSP EQ can tune to a simillar sound signature but it definitelly lacks the fun.
Mojo1 was better but still, Gryphon is better and more versatile.

High praise, Thanks so much for those thoughts!

With me it was totally the opposite. I liked them both. It all depends what kind of music you mainly listen to and if you like reference and detailled sound.

I listentot jazz and classical, and the mojo2 gave me way more micro details

In the end they are both nice devices and if you need the features gryphon gives you more. And the display was very nice.

But after that I went astell and kern sp3000

In my case mostly "guitars and drums" oriented music - rock, metal, alternative.
So Gryphon's more analog approach suits my taste better.

I am still testing loaned NEO iDSD2 and to be honest as for today (after 2 weeks)
Gryphon connected as DAC to Violectric V280 amp is still more convincing to my taste.
NEO is clearly more detailed, but slightly warmer Gryphon somehow seems to be my G-spot :))

I loved AK SP2000T sound but I can't force myself to use any DAP - horrible user experience reminds me
first smartphones 20 years ago and streaming apps like Tidal or AppleMusic have limited features...

I would be interested to hear your thoughts on the NEO iDSD 2 connected to your Violectric unless I misunderstood your post.

If you can it would be good info to have to pass on to other folks, and Thanks very much for what you already posted regarding your Gryphon experience.

Cheers!!

@iFi audio if you don't mind me asking, is the Gryphon using the same BB chip as the iDSD finale? What's the sound signature difference of the DAC between those two devices? To me it looks like the Gryphon is the modernized version of the iDSD but as far as using it only as a DAC is there a real difference between the two? Thanks much.

I would have to ask about the BB Chip, and then pass it along to you here if possible. (Sorry not my strong suit there, lol)

If indeed they are the same then my instinct in the DAC realm would be no, bear with me while I check this information. If you don't hear back please don't hesitate to PM me with a nudge, lol

And never a bother that's why we are here to answer or help where we can!

Cheers!!

Very hard for me to diagnose what is happening from here. I am sorry you are having charging issues with your Gryphon.

See if you can reopen a ticket, (or start a new one) when you get a response explain what happened. If you don't get anywhere PM me the Support Ticket number and I'll see if I can help in any way.

Sorry you had issues, maybe we can get it sorted out.

Cheers!!

A little update - a week after @iFi audio got involved, I finally got a response from IFi's support team. I submitted my initial ticket a few days before Christmas so I will give them some slack on taking 3 weeks to respond to it. They asked me to send the device back to them, which I did. It was delivered to iFi on January 24. I followed up a week later to see if there was any update or even acknowledgement that they had my device, and did not get any reply. It's now February 17 and I have had zero communication from iFi on my issue. Not even a "yes, we got your device and are looking into it". The utter lack of response from iFi is disappointing.

This is strange. Whenever I contacted ifi through support, I always got responses back same day. This was even during the holidays.

Please send me a PM with your support ticket number and I will see if I can have someone take a look at what is going on for you.

I do not work in support tech so I would need this to be able to give a nudge and see what gives.

Sorry, you are having communication issues.

Cheers!!

I'm happy to say after getting @iFi audio to contact their support team, my issue seems to have been resolved. They replaced the main PCB and are sending the device back to me. I'm a little disappointed I had to come here and air my dirty laundry to get results, but at least it got fixed. Thanks to @iFi audio for your help!
