Can any of you guys recommend a good shielded USB-C to USB-C cable, maybe around 100-150mm in length? I notice a difference in SQ between the iFi cable (too short for me, amp hangs off the side of my tablet) and any other UCB-C i usually use for charging things. @iFi audio
Search the ddhifi fiio tc05

I have found this to be a good replacement for the stock cable

These are the more recent versions of the ddhifi cables posted about above, they are nice cables.

Hi everyone.

Just purchased a gryphon and Sundaras.

I’m having to play the Gryphon up into the 90’s volume levels to get it loud enough.

Using an iPhone 13 Pro Max with apple and Amazon music with their various hi res downloads.

Is this right? I was expecting not to have to boot the Gryphons volume up to the max pretty much to hear it. It’s loud @95 but not unbearably loud.

Balanced or single ended?

It’s just with the stock Sundara 3.5 non balanced cable.

I have a 4.4 balanced on its way.

Same, and also with 4.4 bal still need 80-88 for me to make it "loud enough"
The Sundara is current hungry headphone.
You will definitely need the balanced output.
When I had the Gryphon for review, I remember having some great results with the Sundara but I can't recall the percentage of the volume level.

That's seems normal. When I had paired the Gryphon with Sundara (using Balanced Cable) I had to push all the way up to 80 or more for adequate volume. I later got the Edition XS which wasn't as demanding and had to use slightly less volume.

Like others have suggested, Balanced Output is definitely the way to go with Gryphon and Headphones. The Single-Ended sounds softer and less wide in comparison.

I agree with the benefit of the Gryphons balanced out versus single ended beyond just power output,

I recently did a back and forth test at various volumes trying to match and intentionally louder and quieter, same IEM, same cable with a 4.4mm to 3.5mm adapter so it was a pretty quick change.

Listening to a jazz song with only a few instruments and a single female voice I am sure that the instrument separation was better out of the 4.4mm, there was a slightly better sense of a 3D soundstage, the vocals were further forward in the soundstage and the vocals seemed to come from a more defined location in the soundstage from the 4.4mm whereas out of the 3.5mm the vocals were from a bigger area in the soundstage.

I would not pretend to be a super critical listener or blessed with refined hearing but the difference seemed quite obvious, it may have been placebo but I don’t believe so.

A sneaky peak inside iFi HQ and what makes us tick.

Back in the middle of the heatwave here in the UK, we invited the guys from Soundstage! Canada across to see the UK HQ in action (and for fish and chips too, of course).

It’s pretty much the first time we’ve done anything like this so we so weren’t sure what to expect or how it would turn out! All in all, it was great fun and a pleasure to do. Vince and Miles have become YouTube stars and we couldn’t have had a better time with Doug and his team. A huge thank you to them for spending the time with us.

We loved it. And we hope you do too.

Hi, just leaving looking for a bit of advice. I have xcan and was thinking of getting the Gryphon. I’d probably just use streaming from my iPhone although might change my phone to android to get LDAC..So question is would I notice an improvement in SQ streaming with Gryphon over XCAN, even if I didn’t change my phone. I mostly use iems, S12 and others in that price range or less, but might get Sundara at some point..

There will be some improvement with Gryphon over xCAN even with just AAC codec of iPhone as the Gryphon's DAC section is better than the xCAN's internal DAC. LDAC would be even better but still not as good as wired.

If you plan to exclusively use the device with just bluetooth, personally I'd recommend to just get some bluetooth dongle DACs like Go Blu, BTR7... since they will easily drive the IEMs you mentioned and still manage to bring some sound quality improvements over xCAN.
