Here is my current set-up xbox 360 toslink => pc soundcard => fiio e10 => JDSlabs CMOY => dt770 pros.

I love e10, it sounds great with the jdslabs cmoy. However, the audio coming from my 360 is crackling through it for some reason and sound horrible. If I play the 360 through the 3.5mm jack on the soundcard I don't have this problem.

Any ideas what might be causing this? I'd hate to have to get rid of the e10 because of this.

Thats a long chain is all that really nessary?, try removing the JDSlabs CMOY, or fiio e10, or why not get a fiio d3 and go fiio d3>JDSlabs CMOY>dt770 pros , much simpler chain you don't need the pc and you should get better sound from it.

I had the same issue. I solved it changing the audio output configuration on the Xbox. When you use it as Dolby 5.1 it starts to crackling. Change it to use Digital Stereo and the problem should be solved.
