Does the X5 use more battery power playing flac than mp3? I have been disappointed with the battery lately and was trying to determine if it is the battery is loosing life or if playing flac had something to do with it.

Flac will definitely drain your battery much faster than MP3. Battery life is dependent on bitrate since the "denser" the file, the more often your player has to access the hard drive.

Beside more frequent HD access, playing FLAC files requires more CPU power from the X5 in order to process the CODEC.
