I'm considering purchasing one for my laptop. Do you guys know if they're any good?

I would say it's rather a Flavor of the Month. Although I haven't heard this particular modell (only the first generation), I thought it sounded like crap. Prices can be significantly lower in China, where I got a first gen for less than 5 USD. However there is still the possibility that I was being scammed and got a fake.
Also you do realize that this is only 1 speaker?
In a word, I'd say be cautious with buying this and possibly research it more thoroughly.

I predict poor but possibly acceptable sound at very low volumes. Probably not much better than your built in speakers, unless those are very bad (which some are). I haven't heard it myself so this is all speculation.
