I never heard much difference between headphones and 2.1 settings on xfi with my akg 701. I just played with it on my yuin ok1 and was amazed at how much wider the sound field got with the setting turned to 2.1. so does anyone know specifically what the xfi headphone setting is doing to the signal? and what mode do you use, headphone or 2.1?

I don't know what processing it is doing exactly but when I used to use X-Fi for headphones I always used 2.1 for music and only used headphone mode for games. I noticed the headphone setting added some crossfeed and made the bass sound bloated.

If you use foobar it is very easy to learn what crossfeed sound like. There are loads of plugins that fake crossfeed.
