Hi

I got X-can V8 and AKG K 701.

The AKG K701 sound nice, but they weigh heavy on my head after a while. They really don't fit too nice on my head(all weight is on the middle top of the head which is painful after a while).

Secondly the X-can v8 after long hours of use becomes very hot and warms the room like a small radiator!

So I want to downgrade even though going down in quality, and I want to make it simple.

1: The IBasso D2 don't heat up the room, and run via usb power and is very small. I want smaller and lighter headphones, so which is perfect match? I guess the IBasso and other things like Wavelength Proson run best on 32ohm headphones.... which is top of the line in that segment for these amps?

2: When is IBasso D3 coming, and anyone know what new features will be included?

THANKS!

K

I have a X-canv8 and run mine for hours and it never gets hot it only ever gets slighty warm to the touch.

I don't know what kind of enviroment your in in terms of heat but over the last couple of weeks we have had extremely hot and humid weather conditions in london and even then my X-canv8 ran cool.

On the other hand my Stello DA100 Signature gets very warm to the touch in any room temperature.

Maybe you have a faulty unit there.

I have X-Can V8 and D2 Boa. Both are great units. I haven't done that much listening with the D2 and my AKG K701 though but I have compared them briefly. The X-Can V8 with the AKG K701 sounds much more open. The sound is also a bit thinner with the D2. The D2 Boa matched really nicely with my new DT-770 2005 Consumer Edition though. And the DT-770 are ridiculously comfortable. Still there are some crazy highs there so if you are sensitive to very high frequencies and sibilance I would stay away or use the low gain mode on the Boa to smooth out the sound.

As for the comfort... I sometimes tilt them forward a bit or push them up so they don't clamp so hard. Then i'm good.

The combo you already own is an awesome combo and you will probably be dissapointed with anything else in a similar or lesser price range (depending on what music you listen too).

Since you live in rip-off Britain the Boa is very cheap compared to things that are actually for sale in your country! And the Boa will always be useful and increase your geekiness value by at least 100%!

Get the Boa.

My x-can v3 never got hot, only slightly warm running 24/7 for over 2 years. I would imagine the v8 would run the same, or close to the same temp as the v3.

That's weird. My X-Can V8 never gets very warm.. only slightly warm and I have had it on for several days without a break and also it's a lot warmer in my room than usual.

My x-can v8 also, when I touch it , only a little warmth I can feel. Not too hot to touch, never...

It depends on the room and environment temperature. Now that the temperature rises up(summer) i noticed that my v8(with wallwart) gets a bit warmer than before but not by much.
Also sometimes, your hands temperature may be the reason you think it's cooler or warmer.

ok,
i only recently noticed that the wall adaptor 41A-24-500 runs very hot to the touch.
while the x-can v8 gets only slightly warm driving the sennheiser HD800 at 3 o'clock, i can barely place my fingers on that wall brick. the top part with the silver musical fidelity label is especially hot. i can only place my fingers there for a second before feeling burn.

are any of your wall bricks the same while using the xcan-v8?

thanks

paul
