Ok, I've settled on one of the following as this year's Christmas present to myself.

I need some help deciding though...

Fisher Millenium II w/ black titanium nitride accent

or

Fisher Mars Millenium black titanium nitride finish

Or I could go with the plain chrome Millenium.

I'd pick the Mars in a heartbeat except for the engraved "MARS" on the clip. Seems a little Trekkyish looking if somebody saw that on the clip sticking out of my pocket. The Millenium II simultaneously looks nice and yet that silver/titanium look doesn't quite match when put together somehow. Probably can't go wrong with the plain chrome Millenium except these pens are supposed to have enough ink to write for 80 years, so if I get one, I want it to look right!

Well I just couldn't help myself and had to make an impulse buy today...my first serious fountain pen. A Sheaffer Intrigue in Silken Bark finish:

The picture doesn't really do it justice, it has a distinct two tone finish that's more obvious in real life. One reason I pushed myself to get this pen was because I believe Sheaffer discontinued this finish, and that I've been wanting a nice higher end fountain pen for quite a while now. Happened to get the last new in box one the store had too.

I'm absolutely loving this thing! I've gotta say, fountain pens really put the fun into writing. I'm over here filling page after page with useless words just to write with this pen.

It fills using either a cartridge or converter. The way you insert the cartridge or converter is pretty interesting...the back of the pen screws open and you pull out this little drawer where the cart/converter goes. And then as usual the very top of the pen acts as a spinning knob to draw ink up for the converter.
