Write audiophile headphones you really hate

I don't hate them, but I definitely dislike Sennheisers. Not enough excitement, it makes songs which normally have my head bobbing and my feet tapping sound boring. Just not my thing. This coming from having owned the HD-595 and HD-580, and having borrowed the HD-650.

SA5000: recessed midrange, very dry sounding, analytical, and too much treble energy!

Another vote for the SA5K. See above for reasons.

The GS1000, they don’t suffer from too many serious audio vulgarities but I find them to be very boring.

Very strange. My K340's do not sound closed in at all though they are in fact closed headphones. Recently I had tube amp designer Peter McAlister over and he listened to the K340's and HD650's. He thought that the Sennheisers were closed and the AKGs were open.

I don't necessarily HATE the grado line, I just don't prefer the sound, and I like many other under $400 cans a lot better.

I have yet to hear an AT headphone A900, W1000, W5000, L3000 that I liked. I certainly don't hate them but I guess I am just not a fan of that line.

I had one pair of Senns I didnt like years ago - they where too dark with a horrid harsh edge... cant remember the model number.

But I didnt like Shure e4c - too forward treble for my liking.

All ATs I've heard (A700, AD2000, L3000) sounded weird and overpriced to me.

However, what I REALLY didn't like was the Grados (I've heard SR60, SR80, SR125, SR325i, and I didn't bother trying the rest of them).

HD595: Amazingly dull and veiled sounding, even recabled and driven balanced.

DT250-80: A headphone that can almost make the HD595 sound lively.

K240S: Bloat-a-rific bass that infects all it touches.

ER4: Painful feeling, mediocre sounding (only worse sounding IEM's I've tried are E2's), ugly, overpriced, and microphonic like there's no tomorrow.

SR325i: As if the SR325 wasn't harsh enough, lil' Johnnie Grado had to take it up another notch

SR125: Another lovely round of harshness, and piss-poorly put together like all sub $300 Grados to boot!

although i wouldn't say i hated them at all the really weren't tuned to 'my' sound.

What i really disliked about them was the seriously reccessed midrange (although my amp probably has a lot to do with that). To be fair when i EQ'ed them it was probably the most detailed/resolute sound i've ever recieved from any speaker/headphone, far beyond my grado 225's but i really do not like spending an awful amount of money on headphones to have to rely on software to sort out my gripes with them which is why i sold them to a fellow Head-Fi member (hope he's making good use of them because they have a load of potential with the right amp)
