Would you recommend a MD deck?

It's a Sony MDC 302 (I think). It has optical and analog inputs and outputs. Currently, I have a MZ N510.

How would a MD Deck improve my MD experience?
Better sound quality?

Are these things obsolete now that NetMD is here?
Anything other than having a real line out?

Can I record from MD to MD using this, perhaps?

I'd say if you're using NetMD, a deck wouldn't be that useful. Although there is ATRAC Type-S (don't know if you're model has it), which I have neither heard nor heard much about.

A deck is good if you're going to record CDs or analog sources, without using MDLP. For this you'll want something with ATRAC Type-R and (depending on your setup) a coaxial digital input. I like using it to tape LPs, and I set a timer to tape radio shows when I'm not home.

With a deck you can make MD-MD recordings, but you won't be able to record digitally off a second generation digital copy (may be a way around this, hasn't been an issue for me).

edit: I see your model does have Type-S, so that's one fewer reason for you to add a deck.

If you already own a MD portable, then a deck is a great addition.

If you have a good home stereo, a deck is great for listening to your MD discs as well as making dubs from your good CD player, tuner, and/or turntable.

I use my deck in my stereo setup quite often. It makes my setup complete.
