Hi all
Ive been searching for any piece of information about the DT440 in Head-Fi, and could not answer one question, and i hope you can help me.
would DT440 sound good without any amp from ipod or any other portable player? i know it could benefit from an amp (well, any can will) but do i have to use one in order to enjoy these headphone?

i asked the same question in the fullsize headphones forum and was told to use T3 (which cost about 120$) what is this T3?

and last question, in case i do need an amp, will FiiO or pa2v2 do the job?

thanks, Uri.

My friend, what is the mad rush to accumuate headphones without upgrading your source/amp ? It may not seem sexy, but the whole will only ever be as good as the weakest link. You dont have to buy an amp, but I'd really look at upgrading your DAP. The Fiio will give you some improvement, but I cant see that it would be better than buying a DAP with a more powerful amp already built in :

Fiio: E5 | Headphonic: Australian Headphone Specialists: Buy Etymotic, Alessandro, Audio Technica, Ultimate Ears, Talisman, Meier Audio and more

better DAP will run the 440 without amp?

The problem is that Im already really comfortable with iPod and itunes, and buying a new DAP+amp+headphones is a really big investment.
Im with a ATH m50 which I can sell for around 160$+- in israel (they cost like 220$ here, for some reason) and a new source will not be enough without amp, so this cost just to much (new source will be 100$>, new amp - 50$> new headphones 100$>) so Im trying to do the best with an ipod and LOD or something..

Im all confused

, pls help me! what shoud I do in order to use the DT440 portable with this budget?
