I was looking around parts-express and I saw a 2 watt class D stereo amp that looks like it would work atleast ok to power low impedance headphones, combined with a Li-Ion battery it would make a cheap portable amp. Thoughts?

One of the reviewers commented that it was noisy with a 60 ohm headphone.

I'm thinking for 16 ohms max; I saw that review as well.

A recurring theme for these kinds of kits is how well they handle low gain and high impedance loading from headphones.  Some solid state devices can become very unstable when used beyond/outside the limits of what they were designed for... I wouldn't try one of these as a HP amp without testing it on a pair of cheap cans first.
