Sennheiser DH600 with stock cables are my primary connected to a Headroom Supreme upgraded to reference (maybe 18 years ago) - connected via Cardas RCA to mini HiFi Man 602 w/HDTracks flac or MP3 @ 320k, also DAT Onkyo DT-9000 connected with a Denon DA-500, or HP quad notebook usb through Total BitHead are my sources
Thanks to all

you can buy decent DAC , AMPs and headphones under this budget with great improvenment over your current setup. I will recommend the Yulong D100 or Schiit Asgard + Bifrost and headphones like Sony SA5000, AKG K701, DT880(600 ohm) and Ultrasone Pro2900.

There is no huge improvement over the HD600 until you get to the LCD2/HE500/HD800 level. Order all three from a retailer that has a 30 day money back guarantee (Headroom), pick the one you like after listening to them for a week.

Then look into upgrading your source. If the headphone you pick is the HD800, you can think about a tube or a hybrid amplifier, but this is the way to an empty wallet.

+1 for the DAC, especially the Yulong, I'm currently budgeting for one

+1 for LCD-2 or HE-500 depending on your music taste. LCD-2 for rock electronic and hip hop sounds excellent but I have bass eq. Not sure if your amps are adequate but o2 objective 2 amp is affordable.

LCD-2 is heavy tho might not bother you, only wussies or people with neck problems should be bothered :p
