Who's upgraded from the ifi Zen Dac V.2?
Did it seem worth it and what were the benefits?

Reason for the question is I need a dac/amp setup for my office and I'm trying to decide if I should get another ifi Zen Dac V.2, (which is really a wonderful product that works great with my headphones), or if going up the quality chain, by how much to make a significant difference. I definitely welcome all input.

Thanks for this much love for our ZEN DAC V2 :)

The answer would heavily depend on your budget, sound aspects you'd like to change/improve and also utilities you're after. Any additional info will help others to help you :)

I guess my main goal would be to maximize the capabilities of my Meze Rai Pentas IEMs (which are $1100). No specific issues with the ZEN dac, as I really do like the sonic signature it has, not overly analytical and very smooth, but I do wonder if things are this good with a $200 zen dac, then what do you get at say $500-$800 range?!

With that budget, our xDSD Gryphon could be a noticeable step up for your IEMs

It's a portable battery-powered product, but many our customers use it on their desks with IEMs/headphones. I'm not sure how xDSD Gryphon would sound like with Rai Pentas, but in our lineup it sits higher than ZEN DAC V2, so it might be worth reading about. Hope this helps, thanks!

Also, you could ask your question in the ZEN DAC V2 thread. Someone in there might have some cool ideas for you too:
